About the Photographer
Jack Stemm (b1951, Wenatchee, WA) is an artist who currently lives in Overland Park, KS. Growing up his father taught him how to shoot with an Argus C3. Nothing was automatic on “The Brick”
My father was a photographer and taught him to shoot with an Argus C3 “Brick” during his formative years in the 1950s. His father’s love of nature has always been a strong influence.
My work and My father’s have hung side by side in juried shows.
I believe in F8 and being there for as long as it takes.
I believe in capturing what something can be not what it is.
I believe in the golden moments of each day.
When people see my work, I would like them to see an image from a different vantage point,
intrigued by the dynamics of light and to be curious and motivated to delve closer.
My work is affected by a favorite quote from Cecil Beaton:
“Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary.”
